In Science this week we have learned all about ecosystems and what they consist of. An ecosystem is all the things that interact in a specific area, including living and nonliving things. The nonliving things in an ecosystem help the living things survive. This includes light, air, water, and soil. Living things that use these resources are known as organisms . This includes all of the plants and animals in the ecosystem. We have also learned that the plants and animals are divided into autotrophs and heterotrophs . Autotrophs produce their own food. Heterotrophs must eat other organisms to survive. For this assignment, you are to choose your favorite part of an ecosystem; it can be living or nonliving. You must explain why it is your favorite or why you think it is important. If you choose a plant or animal, discuss whether it is an autotroph or a heterotroph.
